So far, the central European and Austrian markets have been served from the central warehouse in Sweden. For the first time in the company’s history, XXL has now opened a distribution center outside Scandinavia on an area of 7,000 square meters. This decisive step did not only enable XXL to shorten delivery times, but also to simplify processes and create new jobs locally.
Only 18 weeks after order intake, the AutoStore specialist Element Logic was able to hand over another AutoStore warehouse with proven technology to XXL. The advantage for this project is that Element Logic’s warehouse management software eManager, which ensures optimized operation of the AutoStore system, is already being used successfully at several XXL locations. The functionalities could therefore easily be transferred to the new location. In the first expansion stage, XXL’s AutoStore system in Austria contains 20,000 bins, 13 robots and 5 carousel ports.
„With the AutoStore system as the central element of their logistics solution, XXL is excellently positioned for being able to flexibly serve both B2B their physical stores, and B2C the rapidly increasing demands in E-commerce“, says Michael Kawalier, Managing Director Sales at Element Logic Germany.
All XXL stores in Austria as well as customers of the web shop xxlsports.at are already being supplied by the Central Warehouse Austria (CWA).
„Our new state-of-the-art warehouse is processing the goods flow to our online customers and to our stores even faster and more efficiently. For XXL, the cooperation with Element Logic is one of the most important success factors for a highly efficient and cost-effective supply chain “, concludes Magnus Kreuger, Managing Director at XXL Sports & Outdoor.
